About
Women Guidance Association (WGA) is a national level non-profit making organization established in 1993. It is an autonomous organization, registered under the home ministry of Nepal Government in 1993 and is associated with Social Welfare Council. Realizing the need of women empowerment in overall development of nation, the proactiveness, enthusiasm and determined vision of different women professionals from various walks of life have come together to join hands in development sector through the establishment of this organization. Since its establishment, WGA has regularly been contributing to the concurrent issues of modern world including community development activities, publications, advocacy, drinking water and sanitation, environmental management etc. The voluntary support of this organization in community development through women empowerment is expected to bring about measurable change in the community.
Mission
The mission statement of WGA states that –“Women empowerment in economic development leads to their empowerment in other development sectors and since women are the overall care takers of the nature, their participation in development activities leads to sustainability.”
Goal and Objectives
WGA has come to existence through the common goal of mainstreaming women in overall development of nation through their empowerment in every developmental sector.
Objectives
• increase capacity of women and enhance skills for economic upliftment to become self-reliant;
• work for the protection and promotion of women’s constitutional rights;
• execute women’s right provided by law in practice;
• ensure access of Nepalese women at least to primary education through non-formal education programs;
• increase access towards basic infrastructural facilities on health, education and drinking water;
• promote equity in resource consumption, decision making and service delivery;
• improve services towards women associated factors of the society like children, health, transportation, agriculture, water and sanitation etc;
• increase women’s participation in environmental management, basic health care and nutrition activities through awareness and knowledge;
• Enhance the livelihood of women through organic farming and alternative energy promotion.
